SEA FEVER
John Masefield (1878 - 1967)
Masefield, who became a poet laureate, wrote "Sea Fever" when he was only 22 years old. It has fantastic examples of onomatopoeias - words that sound what they actually mean. You could hear the wind in " wind like a sharpened knife", for example.
There are hundreds of poems that remain in our spirits as we grow older. And there lies the magic of it all: a simple verse may bring comfort in pain or express the joy of a birth. - Arthur
